Caleb Dillard Back in SSMS Victory Lane

Dillard Scores Day Motorsports Round 5 at Thunder Valley Speedway for His First Southwest Steel Buildings Southern States Modified Series Presented By Schultz Fueling Technologies Win of 2026

GLENMORA, La. — After mechanical issues relegated him to a 10th place finish earlier this month at Sabine Speedway, Robeline, Louisiana's CalebDillard bounced back in an impressive fashion, leading every lap to capture his first Southwest Steel Buildings Southern States Modified Series presented by Schultz Fueling Technologies Feature victory of the season Saturday night at The Thunder Valley Speedway.

Starting from the Schultz Fueling Technologies Pole Award, Dillard immediately established himself as the driver to beat, building a comfortable advantage over the field. Behind him, Tommy Rascoe and Brother Fowlkes engaged in an intense battle for second place before a caution for debris on lap four slowed the action.

When racing resumed, Dillard once again pulled away while Rascoe and Fowlkes continued their fight for the runner-up position. The battle shifted in Fowlkes' favor when Rascoe pushed high, allowing the No. 44 machine to slip underneath and begin closing on the leader.

The race's pivotal moment came on lap 15 as Dillard encountered lapped traffic. Contact between Dillard and a lapped car in turn one triggered a chain reaction that sent Doug Lloyd spinning. Fowlkes, who was running second at the time, had nowhere to go and made hard contact with Lloyd before flipping onto his roof. Fortunately, both drivers escaped injury, but their nights came to an end.

On the restart Dillard remained calm and in control through the remainder of the Feature to secure the victory and the $1,200 winner's share.

Current Day Motorsportspoints leader Tommy Rascoe finished second, followed by Anthony Meek, Corey Oltz, and Keith Meek to complete the top five.

The Southwest Steel Buildings Southern States Modified Series now turns its attention to Diamond Park Speedway in Nashville, Arkansas on Saturday June 6.
