Wills Point, Texas driver Patrik Daniel chased down race-long leader Corey Oltz after falling back to third from the outside pole and made the winning pass with nine laps remaining to collect the $1,200 top prize and the $50 Shed Road Hard Charger Award. The victory was Daniel’s third Southwest Steel Buildings Southern States Modified Series presented by Schultz Fueling Technologies win in 2026 and the 19th of his SSMS career.
After leading nearly half of the race, Oltz was forced to settle for third. Despite the disappointing ending, Oltz performance confirmed that he will be a driver to watch when the SSMS returns to 105 Speedway on September 26th for round 12 of the Day Motorsports point series.
Oltz was a rocket ship from the moment he unloaded, drawing the Schultz Fueling Technologies pole and the accompanying $100 bonus provided.
Starnes, who started the race from third, fought hard throughout the evening against both Oltz and Daniel before recording an impressive second-place finish in his first time in a northeast modified proving he will be a contender on the tour.
Keith Meek came home fourth and Tommy Rascoe and Kodey Keimig rounded out the top six.
As the 2026 SSMS schedule winds down, the series heads back to 105 Speedway on Saturday August 26rth for Day Motorsports Round 12.
